Tools To Help You Prepare For The GMAT
Everyone's selling some type of GMAT preparation tool. How are you supposed to know which ones are worthwhile and which aren't? Well, you can do some research online and find out other people's opinions from reading their reviews. You can also talk to others who have already taken the GMAT. Or, you can check out our suggested tools that have good reviews and have helped many people prepare for the GMAT over the years.
The Official Guide for GMAT Review With thousands of practice questions, you will be able to study for a longer period of time and better. Plus, you may get the same questions or extremely similar questions when you take the GMAT. One of the best things is that practice questions are based on their difficulty so the last ones are more difficult; this can be a problem, though, as only the last couple hundred questions in each section are those you'll probably see. The Official Guide comes with free PowerPrep software that has two free practice tests that are exactly like the real test. The Princeton Review All the review sections and high-quality, and the practice tests are very similar to the GMAT. The online tests are easy to take and review. The test strategy is probably the most helpful part as you can figure out how to crack difficult questions. The only complaints I've heard is that there are no explanations as to why a choice is wrong and there aren't enough practice questions for some students. Kaplan The quantitative review section is exceptional. The resource offers plenty of practice questions and tests. They are all on the more difficult end of the GMAT questions so they're more like what you will find on the actual test if you are doing well. Kaplan offers their own strategies and provides software to walk you through them. Kaplan also offers classes that are very expensive but receive rave reviews. If you are struggling with the GMAT practice and need extra review, you may want to consider one of these classes, if you have the extra money laying around. Must Haves Even if you don't choose one of these tools, here are a few must haves of any tool you use. First of all, it must have some kind of software or online test included. You want to become accustomed to using the computer to take the test, and the closer the format is to that of the actual GMAT, the better. You will also want plenty of practice questions and an in-depth review of each section. Finally, make sure that they offer some type of strategy for cracking the difficult questions as this will come in handy when you get to tough questions on the actual test.
