Learn the Best Way to Study

As a student working hard for an MBA degree, one of the most obvious yet important activities is studying. While no one enjoys this activity, it needs to be done and there is a smart way to go about doing it that will help you finish successfully.

Studying effectively combined with good exercise, nutrition and sleep habits will be the determining factors in your success.

First, most people that have issues with procrastination more than likely have poor study habits. There is a right and wrong way for studying to be done. Cramming at the last minute should be the last thing on your mind, while doing a little bit of studying at a time should be. Figure out how many hours per day you will have available to study. Then take that number and divide that by how many classes you have. If say, you have four classes to study for every day, consider working in short bursts of time. Working thirty minutes at a time on each subject and then moving on to the next subject with short five minute breaks will keep you interested long enough to absorb good information while at the same time keeping you from getting bored. Boredom is a major cause of students stopping their studies all together. The trick is to keep your brain engaged!

Next, evaluate your exercise habits. Exercising with weight resistance and cardio for at least an hour per day is a great way to keep you healthy, alert and energized for studying. Biking, running or walking for thirty minutes per day is a good way to start. Or, you may also consider joining a gym, involve yourself in a martial art or perhaps gymnastics. Utilizing your own body weight in such exercises as pushups, sit-ups and handstands will work your body into incredible shape in a very short amount of time.

Also take a look at your nutritional habits. Do you eat healthy? Or do you consume a lot of fat, oily foods? Eating small meals 4 or 5 times per day that include fruit, vegetables and a good source of protein will give your body and mind all that it requires for the energy to study. If you, like a lot of us, are on the go consistently, consider taking a small cooler with you everywhere. This way, you can pack small amounts of tuna, chicken, or ready-made spinach salads. Be sure to also pack one or two pieces of fruit for the day. Keeping the cooler nearby gives you the opportunity to snack on healthy foods before you run to a fast food restaurant or snack machine.

Finally, be aware of your sleeping habits. Some people need less sleep while others need greater amounts. Whatever the case, make sure you get adequate sleep each night going to bed at or near the same time every night. Try not to stay up to late and go to bed early enough with enough time to get at least 8 hours.
