Get Your MBA For Free
Taking on a master of business administration degree is one of the most challenging degrees that anyone can pursue in higher education. Typically, there is about a year and a half worth of classes to take and a large thesis to complete in the end.
Since there are only three hundred thousand people in the United States with this type of degree out of three hundred million, a working professional with this type of accolade on their resume does very well professionally and financially with the average MBA graduate earning about $96,000.00 per year. What a lot of people do not realize is that the company they currently work for may pay for the entire program! Generally, once an employee begins working on an upper-level degree, management sees that hard work as an opportunity for them to promote the employee and even help them in the process. Part of the reason is that companies know that good workers are difficult to find and may try really hard to retain that employee which could include paying for their schooling. Companies usually offer a couple of different options when paying for a degree. The first and most common is tuition reimbursement. While most companies value their employees they also have to be careful with the funds that they spend. So, usually companies will encourage a person to attend school and as long as they pass the class, they will reimburse the student for the cost as soon as the student presents a receipt and proof of a passing grade. Depending on your company, they may reimburse for passing grades or they may also reimburse depending on the actual grade earned. For instance, if a student earns an A grade, the company will pay back 100% of the tuition cost, for a B, 90% and so forth. The human resources department will have more details if asked. Then, some companies offer a direct bill payment option. This means that the company will pay for a class up front, and as long as the class is completed with a passing grade, there is no further issue. Direct bill is a risky option for companies and is generally reserved for larger companies with hundreds or even thousands of employees attending school. Even if you work for a relatively small company it is well worth your time to maybe present these two payment options to upper-management. You never know what they will be willing to do in regards to your education if you do not ask. Just be sure to research everything you can about the degree including book cost, tuition, and classes that will be taken. This way, they will have the information needed to make an informed decision. If presented professionally, they may just bite at the opportunity to help a valued employee earn an MBA while at the same time helping their own business.
